Instruction for Reviewers
Confidentiality & Ethics: Treat every unpublished manuscript as a privileged, confidential document; do not cite, exploit, or utilize the data for personal research advancement before official publication.
Constructive & Impartial Attitude: Adopt the role of the author’s ally by maintaining a positive, objective mindset aimed at promoting effective and accurate scientific communication within the medical community.
Conflict of Interest: If you believe you cannot judge a specific article impartially due to professional or personal reasons, please return the manuscript to the Editor immediately with an explanation.
Timely Review Process: Reviews should be completed expeditiously, ideally within 1–2 weeks. If you are unable to meet this timeframe, please inform the Editor promptly to maintain the journal's publication schedule.
Communication Protocol: Do not discuss the manuscript directly with the authors. Should you wish to consult a colleague or junior researcher regarding the review, prior approval must be obtained from the KMJ Editorial Office.
Scientific Assessment: Evaluate the manuscript based on its scientific reliability, clinical importance, and originality. Determine if the work is truly original or already known through existing specialist publications.
Methodological Rigor: Assess the appropriateness of the experimental design, the adequacy of techniques, and the accuracy of statistical assessments. Ensure that patient conditions and study methods are described with sufficient detail.
Results & Interpretation: Verify that the results are credible, well-presented, and relevant to the problem posed. Ensure that conclusions and interpretations are warranted by the data provided.
Discussion & References: Confirm that the discussion is relevant to the findings and that all references are up-to-date, relevant, and free of glaring omissions.
Technical Presentation: Review the clarity of the abstract, the suitability of keywords, and the relevance of figures and tables, including their titles and legends.
Suitability for KMJ: Advise the Editor on whether the paper is appropriate for a general medical readership or more suited for a specialist journal. If a paper is currently unacceptable, specify if it can be improved through revisions.
Submission of Recommendations: Provide your recommendation on the acceptability of the paper on the specific sheet provided for the Editor. Do not include statements regarding the final acceptance or rejection in the comments intended for the author.
Feedback Style: Present criticisms dispassionately and avoid abrasive remarks. Distinguish clearly between "essential" revisions (required for acceptance) and "desirable" revisions.
Editorial Finality: While your recommendations are invaluable, please understand that final editorial decisions are based on evaluations from multiple sources; therefore, the Editor may not always follow every individual recommendation.
Quality & Integrity: While correcting grammar is not a requirement, any assistance in improving the writing style is appreciated. Ensure the work upholds the highest ethical standards of the Kauvery Medical Journal.
